This Core HTA is based on the HTA Core Model for medical and surgical interventions, developed by EUnetHTA Work Package 4. Readers of this document are urged to familiarize themselves with the Core Model as well. The aim of preparing this document was to test the HTA Core Model. We wanted to gather experiences from a novel way of preparing a health technology assessment, rather than prepare a valid assessment on DES. Instead of preparing a traditional HTA-report in a single HTA-unit, the relevant assessment elements were defined and the work distributed into several research units around Europe. Because of this piloting function, not every research question was assessed with full thoroughness. Therefore we suggest that the results described in this document should not be used as a basis of decision making as such.
