Major interest among stakeholders to participate in the EUnetHTA Stakeholder Forum

Seventeen European umbrella organisations representing patient/consumer, payer, healthcare provider and industry stakeholders applied to join the EUnetHTA Stakeholder Forum.

The aim of the EUnetHTA Stakeholder Forum is to give stakeholders an opportunity to follow and comment on the EUnetHTA Joint Action work and to provide advice to overarching governance questions in the Joint Action. The EUnetHTA Stakeholder Forum is created as part of the governance structure of the EUnetHTA Joint Action in order to have a permanent mechanism for involvement of stakeholders. Other stakeholder involvement mechanisms such as public consultation will also be employed during the EUnetHTA Joint Action to provide opportunities to comment on the EUnetHTA work.

The composition of the Stakeholder Forum should ensure a balanced representation of five identified stakeholder groups (patients/consumers, payers, healthcare providers, industry and health-related media). Balanced composition should be met by a Stakeholder Forum of manageable size with representation limited to the European umbrella organisations and up to 4 organisations in each of the five identified stakeholder groups. High interest from the industry stakeholder group resulted in a request from the EUnetHTA Executive Committee to the eligible applicants to nominate up to 4 organisations to represent the industry stakeholder group on the EUnetHTA Stakeholder Forum. The four nominated organisations will be asked to share the information/documentation that is circulated to the EUnetHTA Stakeholder Forum members with the remaining eligible industry stakeholder organisations.
