New staff position at the EUnetHTA Secretariat

The EUnetHTA Secretariat (hosted by DHMA, Denmark) announces a new position of a scientific coordination officer to assist the scientific/technical cooperation activities in EUnetHTA Joint Action 2. The new staff member will be working at the Secretariat in Copenhagen in close cooperation with the rest of the Secretariat staff and the EUnetHTA JA2 partner organisations. The EUnetHTA Secretariat (hosted by DHMA, Denmark) is seeking a scientific coordination officer to strengthen the coordination of scientific/technical cooperation activities in EUnetHTA Joint Action 2. It is a time-limited, full-time position (June 1, 2014-December 31, 2015). Reporting to the senior EUnetHTA staff, the scientific coordination officer will work in close cooperation with the entire EUnetHTA Secretariat staff and project coordinators of the EUnetHTA JA2 partner organisations.

Since 2006, DHMA has been hosting the Secretariat of EUnetHTA (European network for Health Technology Assessment) that coordinates and provides daily management of EUnetHTA activities. EUnetHTA is a network of government appointed organisations and a large number of relevant regional agencies and non-for-profit organisations that produce or contribute to Health Technology Assessment (HTA) in 32 European countries including 28 EU Member States. EUnetHTA focuses on HTA in Europe to facilitate efficient use of resources available for HTA, to create a sustainable system of HTA knowledge sharing, and to promote good practice in HTA methods and processes. EUnetHTA aims at developing reliable, timely, transparent and transferable information to contribute to HTA in European countries.

EUnetHTA Joint Action 2 (2012-2015) is a joint initiative on behalf of the EU Member States in collaboration with the EU Commission to further advance European collaboration on HTA. EUnetHTA performs the scientific and technical cooperation function of the European cooperation on HTA as per the Directive 2011/24/EU (Article 15) on the application of the patients’ rights in cross-border healthcare. Primary work relations:
Secretariat: Managing Director, Director of Operations, Project Manager, Communication Officer DHMA (EUnetHTA Secretariat’s hosting institution).
EUnetHTA: Work Package (WP) Lead and Co-Lead Partners (LP and Co-LP); EUnetHTA Stakeholder Forum.
External: European Commission (DG SANCO, EAHC, EMA, DG R&I, other DGs), European institutions, European civil society organisations, other stakeholder organisations, national government representatives (Ministries of Health, national regulatory authorities).

Description of functions/tasks:

  • The scientific coordination officer reports to the senior EUnetHTA Secretariat staff and shall:
  • In cooperation with the Project Manager, deliver a successful, well-managed project that meets its objectives and contributes to EUnetHTA’s strategic aims and profile
  • Ensure in- and cross-Work Package coherence in the scientific and technical aspects of implementation of the EUnetHTA JA2 Work Plan, both within and between  the individual Work Packages
  • Assist the Managing Director to have a continuous up-to-date overview and to lead coherent progress and problem solving in the scientific technical coordination aspect of the EUnetHTA JA2
  • Contribute to preparation of the technical reports (including reports from scientific meetings, technical memos, etc.) and development of communications regarding the scientific technical cooperation progress in EUnetHTA
  • Work with the Project Manager to ensure the deadlines of the activities in the Work Plan are met.
  • Maintain contacts and communication (relevant to scientific technical coordination) with individual staff members of the partner institutions and Stakeholder Forum members
  • Assist in EUnetHTA’s strategic cooperation with leading research institutions and consortia with a view to Horizon 2020

 

Qualifications:

  • Relevant higher education at Master’s level (health sciences, healthcare management, public health, health economics, HTA, etc.) and experience (at least 3 years) in project management e.g., demonstrate experience in coordination and/or contribution to operations of medium to large projects (20 + partners) with international participation and initiatives on health care
  • Competence in organisation (particularly in meeting deadlines) and coordination, and an acute attention to details
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of HTA concepts (hands-on experience with the HTA Core Model is a definite advantage)
  • Excellent knowledge of English (writing, speaking, reading);
  • Strong ICT-skills (Microsoft Office; CMS/website management skills are a plus)
  • Able to handle many activities simultaneously and stay in control in stressful situations and be a fast learner
  • Able to manage complex relationships with multiple parties involved
  • Work well both individually and in a team and can take initiatives while paying attention to their consequences to the whole of the project
  • Diplomatic
  • Have a work permit to work in a EU country (Denmark)
